Hello, I am Ed

I make and supply a range of first class detached properties, enthusiastically sought after by Wrens, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Robins, Pied Flycatchers, Nuthatches, Sparrows . . . and many, many more varieties within the UK. 

Alas, we do not have some of the exotic varieties enjoyed by our American and Canadian cousins. Now that would indeed be a challenge.

All these delightful birds have one thing in common. To secure the best accommodation available for the Mrs, and for her forthcoming brood.  What sensible fellows the gents are, realising "Happy Wife equals Happy Life". 

Essentially, the range is similar throughout, with one or two exceptions:

And here it is again being painted in a Water Based Willow Green - a very popular colour.

The floor area is sufficient for Blue Tits and Wrens (with a smaller 20mm hole for the latter), but for slightly larger birds I designed the Great Tit box to allow room for a full brood of about 8 chicks.

Nuthatches also will use the larger version of this box with a 32mm hole, and perhaps Sparrows will too.

Also, Great Tits are very brave and will often use a 32mm entrance hole at the risk of being booted out later by Sparrows, which can be quite vicious.

Robins nest in open topped nest boxes, so I adapt the basic version for them and the slightly larger Pied Flycatchers. Currently I have sold all my stock but when the next batch is made I will post a photo in a future post.

Indeed I shall be posting features and bird photographs and occasional videos regularly, as they arise.

All my bird houses have a drop down front so that at the end of season the house can be cleared and cleaned, ready for the coming Spring.  In general birds will not nest using previous years' material. 

(Very accessible for easy cleaning)                                              

Other varieties of box are sometimes preferred and this one is a Great Tit Box with a 28mm hole and the side drops down for cleaning instead of the front.

I made one for a friend recently and a family of Great Tits reside there very happily.

I also make Bird Tables when required, an example is shown below:

If you require space for a web camera inside the box, plus a hole for the power line, then I can accommodate this.

I can provide both painted and unpainted versions. The default colour is Willow Green and the cost is marginally higher.

I am always working on new projects, for example currently I am planning a Barn Owl Platform and House, for a countryside garden residence. 

So I can undertake bespoke projects, subject to a brief, discussion and feasibility.
